Great news! Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy has officially confirmed that there will indeed be a new Indiana Jones movie! But will it indeed be a reboot? [hit the jump to continue]
Ever since Disney secured control over Lucasfilm, the entertainment news headlines had their focus on Star Wars. But many of us often miss the fact that the Indiana Jones universe is part of that deal too. And with Disney on the mastermind control, we are sure that they wont just sit around and do nothing with this power.
Now Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy has confirmed that a new Indiana Jones movie is indeed in the works. In an interview with Vanity Fair, Kennedy was optimistic about the future of Indiana Jones, but cautioned that it’s still very early days:
Kennedy confirmed rumors that another Indy movie “will one day be made inside this company. When it will happen, I’m not quite sure. We haven’t started working on a script yet, but we are talking about it.”
Way back in 2013 Disney gave a timetable of “at least two to three years.” We should keep in mind that they're still prepping that refurbished Star Wars universe of theirs. They will probably take a deep breath before jumping into Indy's jungles.
There has been much speculation and excitement driven rumors about the new Indiana Jones movies. There were unconfirmed reports saying that Steven Spielberg is interested in directing an Indiana Jones reboot starring Chris Pratt.
If you ask me, it seems like Indy's route will indeed go that way. Harrison Ford is just too old to play Indiana Jones, not unless it's intended to be like the Robert Langdon (The Da Vinci Code protagonist) movies. A Chris Pratt-starred reboot will surely revive the glory of the Indiana Jones franchise. I guess we'll just find out soon.
