With what we know now, the new film's Doctor Doom may not even look like this |
Here's what Kebbell stated...
"He’s Victor Domashev, not Victor Von Doom in our story. And I’m sure I’ll be sent to jail for telling you that. The Doom in ours—I’m a programmer. Very anti-social programmer. And on blogging sites I’m “Doom”. [hit the jump to continue]
Kebbell continues...
"Yeah, it was cool man. Josh, the whole deal, the lo-fi way he did it, the ultra-real. It was just nice to do that. It was nice to be feeling like we had to come to terms with what was given by this incident."
This pretty much adds up to the changes and differences of Fox's upcoming movie to the comics. In the comics, Doctor Doom is originally a highly intelligent ruler of the fictional Eastern European country of Latveria, who is himself a scientist, a trained fighter, and was also a colleague of Reed Richards when he was younger. The backstory in the comics pretty much makes sense considering that being a monarch, and being a highly intellectual scientist would grant him the resources for being a supervillain. But who knows, maybe Fox thinks it makes more sense that Doctor Doom be an anti-social programmer instead. Who knows? Maybe we'll be surprised how this programmer can master martial arts via youtube. (cough! cough!)
What we know about this Fantastic Four movie so far?
- (Let's start with the most controversial) While Susan Storm will be played by Caucasian actress Kate Mara, Johnny Storm will be played by Black actor Michael B. Jordan. In the original Fantastic Four storyline, Susan Storm and Johnny Storm are siblings.
- Michael B. Jordan said of the cast, "We're more or less a bunch of kids that had an accident and we have disabilities now that we have to cope with, and try to find a life afterwards – try to be as normal as we can.". Kate Mara said that she was supposed to read the Fantastic Four comic books for preparation. However, director Josh Trank suggested to her that it was unnecessary with writer Simon Kinberg adding, that the film is not based on a single issue of the Fantastic Four comic books. Mara has also said that she intended to focus on making her character "as real as possible".
- While Reed Richards should look older and experienced, the film's choice for Richards is Miles Teller, who looks like a teenager. Ben Grimm who looks hulky in the comics (even before his transformation into The Thing), will be played by Jamie Bell who is best known as Billy Madison.
- The film is said to be based in part on the Ultimate Fantastic Four comic-books.
- Tim Blake Nelson will make an appearance as Harvey Elder, perhaps as a teaser for the next movie (yes, their confidence is already making them plan a sequel for this thing), because Harvey Elder is also known as The Mole Man.
The Fantastic Four is scheduled for release on August 7, 2015. A sequel is scheduled to be released on July 14, 2017
