Perfect Storm Entertainment and Beijing Enlight Pictures are planning to remake the timeless kung-fu classic Shaolin Temple and to have it shot on 3D. Fast Five director Justin Lin is set to direct the kung-fu epic. Writer/Director Andrew Dominik, who is known for The Assassination of Jesse James and Killing Them Soflty, has been chosen to pen this $100 million 3D Shaolin Temple remake. This will be Dominik's first gig as the screenwriter and not the director, as he wrote each of his three previous directorial features. [hit the jump to continue] The original 1982 film was Jet Li’s big screen debut and took place during the period between the Sui and Tang Dynasties, revolving around the son of a murdered Tang emperor who trains himself up to enact revenge on the perpetrator.
No target release are set for the moment. Justin Lin will still be busy with his upcoming Bourne sequel, while Dominik is also busy prepping his Marilyn Monroe film Blonde with Jessica Chastain to star.
