The Biennale di Venezia (which is the Art Exhibition in which the Venice Film Festival is part of) has created "Venezia 70 - Future Reloaded" a special feature for this year's Filmfest, in order to invite 70 movie directors from all over the world to make a short film lasting between 60 and 90 seconds, with total creative freedom.
The invitation has been accepted by great maestros, well-known directors, and young filmmakers with recognized talent. All have participated at the Venice Film Festival at least once over the past twenty years. Bernardo Bertolucci, Paul Schrader, Shekhar Kapur, Apichatpong Weerasethakul, Abbas Kiarostami, Monte Hellman and Walter Salles are among the other directors included in the Venezia 70.
