Warner Bros. is developing a new iteration of "The Fugitive". The film which starred Harrison Ford as a doctor who is on the run for being falsely accused as his wife's murderer, was actually also a revival adaptation of the popular 1960s TV series of the same title. And now it will make it's way back to the silver screen. [hit the jump to continue]
The 1993 "The Fugitive" which starred Ford and Tommy Lee Jones, was actually a monumental hit. It won seven Oscar nominations in total, including Best Picture and Best Cinematography. And it scored Tommy Lee Jones a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his role of Samuel Gerard, the U.S. Marshal tasked with hunting down Ford’s character.
There are still no further details which indicate whether any of the actors of any of the movies will return, or even whether this is a sequel, remake, or something else entirely, but Christina Hodson has been set to pen the screenplay with Arnold and Anne Kopelson returning to produce.
In 1998, a sequel was made entitled "US Marshalls" which did not feature Ford; only Tommy Lee Jones who found herself in a similar predicament of running after another falsely accused fugitive, this time played by Wesley Snipes. Although the film was not so bad, it was one that was doomed to be forgettable, and considered as a mis-step. A mis-step which we could only hope would not be repeated in this upcoming new Fugitive movie.
