“Illustrated By”: Filipino Invasion of U.S. Comics is a feature documentary tracing the phenomenon of Filipino comic artists breaking into the U.S. mainstream, to be read by fans from all over the world. The film aims to pay tribute to many of these ignored, unacknowledged talents, and showcase their gorgeous artwork. This docu follows the evolution of the Pinoy comics scene, from the boom in the 70’s to the creation process of comic books today.
The docu is directed by Pepper Marcelo, and features interviews from such Pinoy artists as Tony DeZuniga ("Jonah Hex", "Black Orchid"), Gerry Alanguilan ("Superman", "Spider-Man"), Carlo Pagulayan ("Hulk", "Elektra"), Leinil Yu ("Avengers", "Marvel's Secret Invasion", "Supercrooks", "Superior"), Budjette Tan ("Trese"), Harvey Tolibao ("Star Wars", "Green Arrow"), and several others. The docu will also feature the music of Diego Mapa. The interviews with these legendary comics artists spotlights on their lives and experiences working abroad, showcases their artwork, briefly explores the significance of comics in Pinoy culture and history, as well as an in-depth demonstration of the construction and process of creating a modern comic book utilizing the latest techniques and technology.
In this era of how massively influential and popular comics culture has become, what with all things comics-related has infiltrated all media, with all the blockbuster movies and TV series; we cannot help but acknowledge the hand of Filipino artists becoming part of this great cultural revolution. "Illustrated By" is a must-see not only to those who want to study the great influence of Filipino Art to the world, but it is also a must-see to all Filipinos who love comics, and movies and TV series that were influenced by comics.

"Ang Mga Aswang", which is an Ilonggo film by JR Macahilas, has a story which focuses on the lives of sisters Bebing and Randa who are victims of the social stigma in their community against “Aswang”. Ostracized from society, Bebing and Randa try to live their lives normally similar to any ordinary person and very contrary to what they are rumoured to be.
However, even separated from the people who judge them as monsters, there is still a part of them which wants to be extricated from this unjust judgement and live freely with the rest of the community
